My definition of agnosticism:
On the one hand, you have theists, a general word for anyone having
"faith" that a god exists, be it whatever form or religion that god belongs
to. On the other hand, you have atheists who ALSO have "faith" that
NO god exists. An agnostic is someone who falls in between the two.
An agnostic is someone with a neutral stance on these two ideas; someone
who doesn't have a clear opinion one way or the other; someone who cannot
use faith to believe one way or the other. An agnostic's priority is to
take life for what it is at the moment and that if proof to claim or disclaim
a god reveals itself, then so be it. Otherwise, there is no necessity to
acknowledge the existence OR non-existence of a god.
For an agnostic, such an acknowledgement is essentially a waste of time.
Similarly: The theist generally thinks that the agnostic and
the atheist is wrong. The atheist generally thinks that the theist and the
agnostic is wrong. If these two statements were not true, then neither the
theist nor the atheist would truly be what they are, for they would be
forsaking their faith. Alternatively, the agnostic neither thinks the
atheist is wrong nor that the theist is wrong. This allows us to live
harmoniously with all the ideas at once. Thus, our lives and actions are not
governed by the worry of what happens when we die - we just.....live.
